Summer Race Teams

Ten week session ~ $1,200

Race Teams:

SYC race teams target more advanced sailors looking to focus on improving their boat handling and racing strategy. In addition to weekly practices, race team sailors compete locally (sometimes regionally) throughout the summer and rest of the year. Race Teams will practice 5 days per week all summer long, or week by week. Classes will run from 9am to 4pm.  We will attend BAYS (Bay Area Youth Sailing) regattas. 420/Laser/CFJ Race Team (DR):

The 420/Laser Race Team is geared for those who have graduated from the Opti and want to focus on racing and local regatta participation. Members will learn how to sail with a spinnaker and trapeze on C420′s. Those who are interested will also be able to sail Lasers.

Congratulations to our 2010 Sear’s Cup Team!!!

For the first time SYC was represented in a major youth sailing championship, the 2010 US Sailing Chubb Junior Championship. Our Jr. Sailors qualified for the Sear’s Cup, a yearly triple-handed national championship.

Kate Andersen (skipper), Daniel Rosic (mid) and Nick Dedona (bow) won the area G triple handed qualifier at TYC in J22′s. They then went on to compete against the country’s best in San Diego at the national championship in Lightnings! Great job guys!

Here Kate, Daniel and Nick are receiving the “Ship-Shape” award which is given to those who kept their boat the neatest throughout the event.
